This is an important contribution to critical theory discourses. The book helps the reader rise above heteronrmativeness, white privilege, male privilege, and all unprogressive individualist reactionary behaviors and thoughts. I have assigned the book to my students as required reading in the Gender, Class and Ethnicity course I teach.
When the book keeps a lighter tone the message gets across and the reader is able to keep going without feeling preached at. There are times, however, when the tone becomes bogged down and resembles one of the hated self-help books without the levity to keep the interest up.
Learn the lessons in this book and you might just get elected to high office. It is an amazing forerunner of what just happened to the United States.
